Global Wireless Solutions Announced TroubleSpots Application for BlackBerry Users
Free Third-Party Application Allows Wireless Users to Report
Real-Time Network Problems to All Mobile Operators
Global Wireless Solutions, Inc. (GWS) -- a leading provider of data collection and analysis, performance monitoring, benchmarking and network planning solutions for the wireless industry -- today introduced a new version of its wireless coverage application, TroubleSpots, designed for all BlackBerry devices.
First launched in 2009, the original TroubleSpots application was previously only available for iPhone users to send real-time reports to mobile operators about network problems, such as when they experience no wireless network coverage, dropped calls, failed call attempts and failed data service. Now BlackBerry users will have the ability to submit the same incident report via the only third-party mobile application commercially available for consumers to help identify potential weaknesses in their networks.
“As mobile devices and services become more critical for everyday use by consumers and businesses alike, the frustration of dropped calls and difficulty accessing the Internet from wireless devices continues to mount,” said Paul Carter, president of GWS. “With this lastest version of TroubleSpots for BlackBerry users, we are now able to gather even more critical network performance data directly from potentially tens of millions of BlackBerry users across all wireless networks, which will provide valuable information to help mobile network operators continue making improvements on how their networks perform.”
From iPhone TroubleSpots released in 2009, users have reported tens of thousands incidents from the application. This data has enabled GWS to identify key areas in which wireless networks needed more capacity, additional cell sites, and other enhancements to improve coverage and user experience.
TroubleSpots for BlackBerry will be available for use on devices that have OS 4.5 or higher. The application will work on any mobile network, as long as the BlackBerry user has a data plan from their carrier and enables location-based services.
TroubleSpots for BlackBerry will be available for free in April 2010, and will be available for download from mytroublespots.com, gwsolutions.com and other sites to be announced.
